My Approach

I believe that what happens between us in the therapy room matters more than any modality, theory, or specific intervention. I bring humor, compassion, and empathy to you and your story, because the attachment between us is what will drive the work we do together. In our sessions, I put emphasis on three key areas: exploring your story, tuning into what’s happening in your body, and attending to the dynamic of our relationship. You might hear me ask, “What did it feel like to tell me that?”, “What’s coming up for you as I listen to this story?” and yes—I’ll probably ask you “where do you feel that in your body?” But if embodiment feels far away; if you’re worried you won’t be “good enough” at therapy, I promise you that isn’t true. We’ll go together at whatever pace honors your body.

My training and interests combine to form a blend of Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work, somatic body-based approaches, psychodynamic theories (AEDP), and narrative therapy. I am also trained in Gottman Level 1 and use that as a guide for my couples sessions.

Primary outcomes from our work together will likely be an increased capacity to tolerate a wider range of emotions, a toolbox of grounding and mindfulness strategies to help with regulation, an increased sense of self-compassion, and a deeper understanding of the scope of your story.
